A new retail center planned near the Empire Mall is already proving popular with businesses, according to a Monday announcement from the site's developer, Lloyd Cos.
Empire Place was announced in January, a strip mall project set to open in 2020 near the Empire Mall along West 41st Street.
Commercial brokers are in the process of negotiating three leases with businesses interested in occupying retail space at the yet-to-be-built shopping center, according to Lloyd's announcement. That equals about half of the total available retail space at Empire Place, which has yet to undergo construction.
The project aimed to capitalize on recent successes of the mall, a byproduct of a partnership between Lloyd, B&H Realty, MLR partners and David R. Billion.
Billion also owned Autos on the Mall, the dealership where Empire Place will be built.
