H-E-B recently launched a new mobile app that allows customers to order groceries for curbside pickup and home delivery.

The app, called My H-E-B, also shows patrons where items are located in a store and includes coupons. At checkouts, customers can scan a single bar code to redeem all of their clipped coupons.

North Star pop-up

The Macy’s department store chain is opening temporary shops featuring products from women-founded brands at seven of its stores, including its location at North Star Mall.

Macy’s is teaming up with SoGal Ventures, a female-led venture capital fund the retailer has a minority stake in, on the initiative.

Brands featured in the pop-ups, which will be open through Jan 31., include Blume, Bon Temps, Ettitude, HidrateSpark, Laqa & Co., Lovevery, Neely & Chloe, OK Jewelry, Quirktastic, Sheertex, Skin Inc. and TomboyX. Most are online businesses, a Macy’s spokesperson said.

Restaurant news

Feast, a popular restaurant in Southtown, is closing at the end of the year, Staff Writer Mike Sutter reports.

The space at 1024 S. Alamo St. will be used for pop-ups and work on other projects by founding chef Stefan Bowers and restaurateur Andrew Goodman. The pair also operate Battalion in Southtown, the Playland pizzeria downtown and the Rebelle restaurant and cocktail lounge Haunt at the St. Anthony hotel downtown.

Periphery, a restaurant at 2512 Main Ave. in Monte Vista, closed Sunday, Staff Writer Chuck Blount reports.

It’s the third high-profile restaurant inside Loop 410 to close in the past three weeks: Fontaine’s at Elmira and North St. Mary’s streets and The Granary ’Cue and Brew at the Pearl shut down.

Dos Sirenos Brewing Co., a brewpub at 231 E. Cevallos St., opens Dec. 27, Blount notes. Owners Mike and Kari Sireno plan to have at least five of their beers available.

Renovations to the space, formerly home to The Beach Bar, took over a year. The brewpub has 3,600 square feet of interior space and about 1,000 square feet of patio space, Blount says.

Mexico-based franchise Pockets recently opened a pool hall and bar at 5819 N.W. Loop 410, Blount reports.
